If you're pregnant with twins, you're likely googling all the things about twins, and running into lots of lingo and shorthand references. Let me see if I can help sort this out for you. (I am not a doctor, nurse or anything... so these are over simplified.)
"Singleton": Children who are not twins, triplets, quadruplets, etc...
Types of twins:
"Di/Di Twins": it stands for dichorionic/diamniotic. It means the babies are fraternal twins (not-identical twins). They have their own placenta, their own yolk sac. They can be Girl/Girl, Girl/Boy, or Boy/Boy. It helps to think of this as two simultaneous pregnancies-- These babies just happen to be growing at the same time in your uterus. They are no closer related than any sibling pair, they just happen to share a birthday.
"Mo/Mo Twins": this stands for Monochorionic/monoamniotic. It means these babies share a placenta and yolk sac and they are identical twins. They are either Girl/Girl or Boy/Boy. They will generally look exactly the same, although sometimes one is bigger than the other, or there can be other external factors that might cause a few minor differences. Generally, when you think about twins, this is what you think about.
"Mo/Di Twins": This stands for Monochorionic/Diamnoitic. This one is the hardest one to understand. They have one placenta, but they have separate amniotic sacs. They are identical, but since they have their own amniotic sac, there can be even more differences than Mo/Mo twins.
